About Me

I am a graphic designer with over fourteen years of experience. Within these fourteen years I have designed for a variety of media and art directed and shot photography for use in adverts and brochures. I have creatively applied these images to designs for use in the promotion of De Montfort University, Norwich City Council and many companies. I have often had sole responsibility for the organisations creative output, marketing and advertising budget, as well as in re-branding, raising the profile and boosting sales in the marketplace.  My project management skills have helped cut costs as I have been able to source and successfully liaise with external copywriters, printers and programmers.

Whilst working at Norwich City Council, I was involved a variety of projects, from producing newsletters in partnership with small community groups, promoting the City’s Millennium celebrations and festivals, through to re-branding the City’s logo.  DeMonfort University led to more opportunity and responsibility in the production of brochures designed for a young audience including international students, as well as creating national press adverts to attract students within the clearing system.  My move to a work within a small agency led to fresh challenges to nationally promote music festivals and theatre productions.  This progressed within my next two roles where I creatively managed and completely re-branded each companies identity, websites, brochures and advertising. This incorporated the promotion and production of exhibition stands, applying branding to livery, stationary, posters walls and banners.

In my previous role I took on many small independent website projects as well as designing eshot campaigns developing SEO campaigns in dreamweaver. Worked on and project managed two large company sites websites with programmers stripping the company down to its bare bones and building its identity in site form. I believe I have developed some independent skills that enable me to get a good feel and overview of a company and work within it to develop branded media that captures all there services and company ethos.

I feel I have an in-depth understanding of the potential of website development. This includes brand application, advertising, marketing points of sale and interest and tying this in with current campaigns applied to different media, as well as navigating and guiding the viewer around a site successfully (Although I am not a programmer). It is apparent now that a brand has to work over may forms of media and that a companies identity is not just visual and that clients can get a feel of the personality of a company via social network and news items which help with SEO as well as Brand awareness.

In my current position I have been able to use elements of my previous experience (web, branding, advertising, print) and promote the company through the leisure industry . It has been a challenge to package an ever growing series of products and market them successfully to the public and businesses wanting to gain financial benefits from developing technologies and sometimes invisible product and software. I believe I have been successful in giving Phantom a stronger brand within the leisure market place enabling it sell more proactively, its list of accessories and products are now a more carefully branded a package, and I believe regular customers can recognise Phantom as a leading brand.<

I feel I have a well developed ability to manage and maintain design standards and during the current recession I have been able to use these skills effectively to minimise costs.

In my private life I have organised a number of musical events locally for charity, sang in a band and play guitar, I have been played on the Radio recently.  I continue to enjoy making new music and attending performances and concerts locally and nationally. I take a keen interest in the development of modern culture, within the arts and technology and fashion.
